“My passion expressed in two words”. Working primarily with metal, forging, forming, and fabricating, all of Richard's work is created by hand, using a broad range of traditional and modern tools and techniques. His work features in numerous private residences, hotels and public spaces across the UK and Europe.
The core of Richards's work is architectural in nature, creating bespoke staircases and balustrades, these types of projects offer unique challenges in terms of design and problem-solving that Richard and the team thrive on. Creating beautiful, elegant designs that are fundamentally practical and ergonomic is no mean feat but executed well, they have the power to transform the look and feel of a building.
Richard also has a rich portfolio of unique and often quirky interior design and public art commissions from dining tables to cigar shelves, bespoke spurs to kinetic wall sculptures. At his studio in the West Sussex countryside Richard and his skilled team are excited to put their minds and skills to any challenge, the more unusual the better. “We like to do things that are difficult, if it was easy anyone would do it”.
Parallel to this Richard and his team have carved out a niche in the world of vintage and pre-war cars, recreating unobtainable parts and entire chassis for prestigious vintage vehicles such as Alfa Romeo 8c and 6c, Bentley 3 litre and 4.5 litre, Bugatti type 25, Amilcar, Peugeot brothers and Peerless to name but a few.
“I endeavour to work at the very limit of my skills all of the time, pushing myself to achieve what I thought wasn’t possible yesterday”, Richard Weaver, Metalsmith.
